USMC Example Letters is a LogTool-hosted set of 11 downloadable Word-document templates that help a Marine Corps Supply Officer draft the correspondence chain for a command-directed property investigation under ground supply accountability procedures. These are practitioner templates, not an official Marine Corps publication; the governing policy lives in Marine Corps supply orders. It also carries the templates from LogTool's former USMC Sample Letters entry (id 297), merged here in September 2026.

What it is

The original set is six downloadable .doc templates: an Initial RO (Responsible Officer) Request for Investigation letter, First, Second, and Third Endorsement examples, and two Final Endorsement variants (for different supply categories). The templates are examples for the correspondence chain that accompanies a command-directed property investigation, not the investigation report itself.

Additional templates

Five more templates, moved here in September 2026 from LogTool's former USMC Sample Letters entry when the two overlapping entries were merged: the ROPD version of the same request-and-endorsement chain, plus an end-state Supply Officer certification that the action is complete. That entry's sixth letter (the POPD final endorsement) was already in this entry's downloads.

Who operates it

LogTool hosts and maintains these templates directly; they are not sourced from or maintained by an official Marine Corps office. The authoritative policy for property loss investigations and financial liability is Marine Corps Order 4400.201 (Management of Property in the Possession of the Marine Corps), published on the Marine Corps Publications Electronic Library (MCPEL).

Access

Public download, no account or CAC required. The templates are served directly from the logtool.com Toolbox page.

How logisticians use it

Marine Corps supply officers and responsible officers use the templates as drafting starting points for the request-for-investigation letter and the subsequent chain of command endorsements when a property loss is suspected. For the substantive requirements of the investigation itself — thresholds, timelines, findings, and financial liability determinations — units follow the applicable volume of MCO 4400.201, not this template set.

Related systems

Absorbs id 297 (USMC Sample Letters), whose templates for the same process were merged into this entry in September 2026. Relates to MCO 4400.201 (Management of Property in the Possession of the Marine Corps) and the Marine Corps Publications Electronic Library (MCPEL), which is the authoritative source for the underlying order.
