DLA is the DoD Executive Agent under DoDD 8190.01E; DLA's Defense Enterprise Data Standards Office (DEDSO), under DLA Information Operations (J6), develops and publishes the manuals, which are public.

    DOCUMENT IDENTIFIER CODES DOCID DIC

    Document Identifier Codes (DIC), also called DOCID, are the three-character alphanumeric codes occupying record positions 1-3 of a MILSTRIP/MILSTRAP logistics transaction that tell DoD supply and transportation systems what kind of transaction it is (requisition, status, receipt, cancellation, etc.). They are defined and maintained by DLA's Defense Enterprise Data Standards Office (DEDSO) in DLM 4000.25 (the Defense Logistics Management Standards manual), Volume 2, Appendix 2.1.
