DOCUMENT IDENTIFIER CODES DOCID DIC
Document Identifier Codes (DIC), also called DOCID, are the three-character alphanumeric codes occupying record positions 1-3 of a MILSTRIP/MILSTRAP logistics transaction that tell DoD supply and transportation systems what kind of transaction it is (requisition, status, receipt, cancellation, etc.). They are defined and maintained by DLA's Defense Enterprise Data Standards Office (DEDSO) in DLM 4000.25 (the Defense Logistics Management Standards manual), Volume 2, Appendix 2.1.

LogTool Logistics Codes
LogTool Logistics Codes is a free self-published spreadsheet on logtool.com for looking up MILSTRIP-family logistics codes offline; it's a LogTool convenience compilation, not a government system — verify any code against the current DLM 4000.25 (MILSTRIP/DLMS) manual.

MILSTRIP Formats
MILSTRIP (Military Standard Requisitioning and Issue Procedures, DLM 4000.25-1) defines the standard data elements, codes, and transaction formats — legacy 80-position and DLMS — for DoD requisitioning, issue, and materiel tracking. Maintained by DLA's Defense Logistics Management Standards program; the manual is public and freely downloadable.
